LOL.
Okay, so, yes, I am occasionally a leap before I look kinda girl, which is why I effed up sending out that album yesterday (TWICE OVER) and how I found out you cannot actually get DM’s on this site, and ALSO how come I sent out a newsletter that had product links in the images but not actual separate buttons, oy!
BUT.
So….what?
There’s that adage, that you only get one chance to make a first impression, but honestly, that’s in person, and double honestly, no one really cares about you as much as you think they do — just like that famous David Foster Wallace quote:
You will become way less concerned with what other people think of you when you realize how seldom they do.
Which is one of the reasons why we have to market our books so avidly.
‘cause chances are, even though *we’re* tired of talking about them — the amount of people we’ve reached with them is JUST A DROP in the bucket!
And this is one of the many, many, many reasons that I’m not super worried about the long term consequences of people being mad at me about using AI.
I would wager heavy sums of $$$ that for the vast majority of people who are “mad” at me for using AI art in my Tiktoks, IG, etc, that while they’re irritated ‘at me’ in the moment, on the whole, they really don’t remember why over time, only that they’ve heard of me before.
Which, bluntly, is kinda all I care about?
That, and all the fresh eyeballs my pretty, pretty ads bring in!
Plus also, the reason you don’t have to pay for this substack is so that sometimes I (and potentially Novae) can be a fuck-up, LOL.
So let’s regroup, shall we?
If you wanna zoom w/Novae and I on 7/25 at 11 am PST (be there or be square!) EMAIL MY ASSISTANT at cassandraassistant@gmail.com for the zoom link! (And no, we’re not gonna tape things, the tech moves too fast to make that worth doing <3)
If you want to discuss ANYTHING python related at that zoom, you HAVE to have made this program work on your side first — that way you’ll have python installed on your side, and figured out your file paths for yourself and will have made this program, which is the exact same program I use to run image prompts through MJ in relaxed mode, ‘cause if you don’t have this running it’ll take too long to show you any future steps <3
Sorry for discovering I don’t know how to add products to my store livetime, LOL. (Not digital ones, at least!) (My poor PA this morning, reading the msgs I sent her last night, was all, ‘Wait, what album?’ and, uh….yeah. Luckily she’s used to working with me!)
Here’s the link for This is How You Haunt Me, my album of AI music related to my books! The code to get it free is SubStackAlbum, and now it won’t try to charge you shipping, hooray!Someone asked me awhile ago how my ads were going to incorporate material from the chat I showed y’all a few days ago!
Here’s a link to my Facebook Ads Library — I’d give it a day to catch up before peeping though, I just added all my sales ads (all 15 of them, SAINT FUCK) and they haven’t populated on there yet.I use AI for traffic ads mostly, but for sales ads, I just used that copy that Jack and I created (as I showed you) and then talk about the book with my face. I find that people are more willing to spend money on something when they can see it and relate to the person behind the book, so-to-speak.
That said, all of the cover art for all of those books, and the sprayed edges, and interior illustrations for those books, were all generated by AI, and it hasn’t hampered their sales yet ;).
Phew! So, see there? Only a little light sword falling. Trust me, it gets easier the more you fuck up, you just get used to owning it and moving on, and it’s pretty awesome? I mean, I don’t like wasting time regrouping, but at the same time…
When I was trying to hype myself up to ‘do content’ yesterday Jack told me ‘Don’t be afraid to be messy! Messy is golden!’
And in my head I strongly whispered, “That’s good, ‘cause messy is my favorite ice cream flavor” and…it makes sense to me and that’s all that matters ;).
I’m off to do image curation and get another batch of videos rolling up here — that new spare laptop came in, woohoo! — I totally forgot I’ve got my Dark Ink Tattoo series translated into four languages, none of which I’m marketing it in? — and I also bought an old refurbed iPhone this morning —
I wanna use one of these doohickies — Synco Selfie Monitor — so I bought one, only to find that my Galaxy phone thinks allowing your screen to be mirrored is a security risk (they’re not wrong!) — but it’s good, too, bc my phone is always running outta room, whereas this new-old phone can just store all the video in the world on it and run offa my wifi.
That way, I can do all the ridiculous unboxings I want to, and not have to worry about camera maintenence so much.
And SPEAKING OF….
I backed this kickstarter here:
Why?
Not because I think I’ll be able to use it in my house or in my bookroom…
But because I think I’ll be able to use it for motion capture soon.
Motion capture video to video is already possible with some AIs, and I am 1000% certain that tech will ONLY improve.
And, once it does, I could theoretically take something like this out into a flat area and make sword slash motions in front of it, or whatever else I wanted to do, to transfer my AI characters into doing!
Okay!
Off to look at pretty pictures (after I also re-email that newsletter with actual buy links, d’oh!, lol)
xo!
