First image gen AI trained on entirely licensed material is OUT!!!
...so what's left for anti-AI people now???
Trapped on a plane and this is about the only thing that’ll work with the slow-ass wifi I have currently (although I am doubletimeing on y’all with Jack, creating video overlays — he’s currently typing out forty of them for me!)
Given that Marley Moonvalley just became available on Comfy UI — and it’s trained entirely on licensed material — the opportunity for anti-AI people to gripe about visual gen-AI should’ve just shrunk to a pinpoint. (It won’t. But a girl can dream!)
Let’s all behold this gem with some irony:
This lady thought she was gonna score some points on me, without me knowing, by virtue of screenshotting my Threads profile (rather than at’ing me) and trying to:
a) Make people unfollow me and
b) Offer truly stupid, at this point, comparisons to piracy.
To be fair, the comparison is just fine.
The problem with it is that she thinks that I, a grown-ass adult, who has been using AI for the past three years, has never been presented with This Particular Arguement before.
Lady, I’ve got arguements in my head that no one else has even ARGUED, lol.
But also — here’s what got her — she didn’t realize that Threads (a Meta-product, scraped by Meta no doubt) also has image reading capabilities, just like a ton of other AI products currently, and that their algo — also run by AI, I am certain! — read her shadily posted screenshot and actually NOTIFIED me on my IG saying it was a ‘Thread I might be interested in!’
L. O. L.
Honestly?
I’m not interested in it — I don’t enjoy fighting.
But I was raised on the internet, so please don’t come for me unless you’re prepared to own it and then brawl.
Let’s get back to Moonvalley though!
It’s the AI engine that Natasha Lyonne is using for her upcoming film Uncanny Valley — because everything that it was trained with was licensed material.
Lemme just C&P over what the good ppl at Comfy UI have to say about it:
Commercially Safe: Trained on fully licensed content, ready for commercial work with no legal gray areas.
1080p Fidelity: Trained on native 1080p video – delivering stunning clarity without upscaling.
Prompt Accuracy: Consistently interprets complex prompts with precision
Cinematic Motion: Smooth, spatially coherent movement
Physics & Lighting: Realistic object motion and natural light interaction
Composition: Clear depth layering across foreground, midground, and background
*boom*
Now, Comfy UI is a little complicated to use (although nothing your GPT can’t talk you through!) so it’ll be a bit till this shakes down to the casual user.
HOWEVER….
Considering most of the niche AI gen programs are re-skinned Comfy flows behind the scenes (and then juiced by massive servers) — it’s SO EASY to see this going wide soon, and once it does…
Everyone is going to use it.
Industry first, because knowing that they can bounce a quarter off of Enterprise level solutions to the ‘am I going to get sued?’ problem means they’ll rush to be in line.
And then it’ll percolate down to the rest of us one Higgsfield application at a time.
Probably eventually it’ll be a setting we can flip somewhere, to choose the back end engine of what you’re working on — especially if it continues to get better. (It already looks cheaper than it did when I looked at it when Uncanny Valley first came up.)
So yeah.
Once this goes wild…
What then?
Or even, what now? Seeing as I don’t think most antis could pick a particular image gen program’s use out of a line-up? If I were to lie and say my MJ was Marney….how would they really know?
I mean, I’m chaotic good, so usually I don’t lie, and fuck them anyhow, but…they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on.
Unless they started demanding those ridiculous ‘process’ videos to show that only Moonvalley was used in the creation of a project, but….come the fuck on.
Ain’t nobody with an actual career got time for that.
Anyhow!
I know this maundering opens more questions than it closes — and perhaps now it will be My Jobbe to educate the masses on the fact that fully licensed gen AI exists, the same way they’ve been ‘educating’ each other on how awful AI is for the past three years now….
But I also have better things to do ;).
xo!

I've seen some authors like "I don't like AI" but yet "ChatGPT is so amazing"
The mass media has weaponized them over the last ten years that it is perfectly fine to spew hate and bully anyone who doesn't agree with their beliefs or agenda. They aren't going to give up their fear driven hate because of a "technicality".
Adobe Firefly has licensed content for training but they don't give it a by because you're putting "humans" out of work and whatever you generate has no "soul".
Four of my books are in the database and were used for training. I'm not going to get all upset about it because I got paid my royalty for those books just as everyone else did. I made the decision to sell to libraries. I don't get additional money from the borrows, so why get upset if someone downloads my book from a file-sharing site since I don't get paid for that either?
Ethically, the personswho uploaded my books to those sites are the villains because they violated my terms on the copyright page.
