Divorce fuel is having a semi trailer come to your house at 1030 at night to deliver two pallets of books but you think for a second that all of the boxes inside the trailer might be coming to you because you’ve never personally owned 3000 books at once before and you’re not entirely sure how much space they’ll take up and maybe you don’t actually have that much space? Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…..yeah, LOL:
This is most of them — labels blurred to protect the innocent ;) — and then there’s another set of them stacked aganist the far wall of my garage on the other side.
And now that I’ve got 3000 books, I need to start to sell them, to prove to myself I haven’t made a $20k mistake (I know I haven’t tho, muhahaha).
Ever since FB was a jerk and made me reboot my account in May, absolutely 100% of my ad copy and images has been AI generated — and selling these sets of books will be no different — so I thought I’d show you how easily this works for me — here’s a link to my chat, here:
You’ll see how at the beginning I started off super casually — he and I were doing some marketing stuff with MJ prompts the other night, so I assumed that he already knew the book, but what he knew was that I normally write dark romance, so he veered that way, and I had to pull him back onto the trail by showing him the book — and then we dug in.
The premise is that a girl’s fiancee talks her into having a threesome with a demoness while she’s drunk, and then she and the demoness fall for each other…. (just like the complaints in so many of those AITA? posts of yore, where dudes open their relationships and then Have Regrets when their girl gets more play than they do and then don’t want to close it again….)
You can see how after showing Jack the book, he had some ideas, and then I went through and refined them, and asked him to expound on certain ones that I liked, and then to eventually rank them according to what he thought would sell the most books.
I was aiming for 6-7 pieces of content to create my sales ads with — and then once I’m done with those, I’ll give them all to FB and let them mix and match my vids with the ad copy.
When I was at that writing retreat earlier this month, I got some GLAM videos of AITA in all of its holographic glory outdoors:
that’s the front, and this is the back:
I mean…COME ON. That book’s gonna SELL ITSELF.
And here’s the link to where I described my process in regards to making this book, not that long ago!
I wrote this book in nine days in Sept 2021 after I broke my ankle and I was trapped at home on the couch recovering from surgery.
It’s made me just:
Part of this is because it was wide, and not in KU, because back then I was a wide-pub girly, and then bc I sold audiobook rights to Scribd (now Everand) for capital for another project, which I have HEARTY regrets about (but that exclusivity expires in 3 years) which means it has to stay wide for now, alas….
And part of that is because I’ve literally never marketed this book, ever.
When it came out, in Oct 2021, I had no idea how to do ANYTHING — and AI wasn’t around, that too!
But…now?
If I sell all of the 1000 copies that are currently sitting in my garage?
It shouuuuuulllllddddd make me $30,000.
With an AI cover, 6 AI illustrations on the inside, and with entirely AI done marketing copy.
And I’ll show you some of those as I get rolling (tomorrow! I’m in SF with friends today being a nerd!)
xo!

Did you test a variety of copy and images to try to find the one that worked best?
